Bennet's Astronomical Gallery

Update September 2010: A vacation to the dark skies of Lake Chelan in September 2010 produced some spectacular photos that I was never able to take in the light polluted urban skies of Edmonds, WA even with light pollution filters. Check out the new photos of the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, Pleadies, The Milky Way, and the Flame and Horsehead Nebulas. The really cool and new thing for me is that most of these new photos were taken with a Canon XSi DSLR and 55-250mm F5.6 zoom lens. The 250mm focal length seems to work well for the APS-C sized sensor (400mm eqv 35mm). I'm thinking that since I've got an old version of the hyperstar lens that doesn't work well with DSLR cameras, my next camera may be something like the Sony Alpha-5 unless Canon enters the market in the next year or so. That combination should be spectacular!
